COMMON Questions
How Long Does the Process Take?

Most adoptions can be completed in the same day, but can take up to 48 hours. We do verify vaccine records, so if your vet is closed for the day or weekend, you can submit paper copies of your records to speed the process.

How Much Does Adoption Cost?

Adoption fees are set by age and species.

Puppies Under 1 Year – Start at $225

Adult Dogs – Start at $200

Kittens Under 6 Months – Start at $150

Adult Cats – Start at $100

What Is included in adoption?

All animals adopted from the Humane Society of Morgan County are spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, and microchipped!

Dogs are also heartworm tested, receiving heartworm prevention, and have received vaccines for kennel cough and distemper/parvovirus, as age appropriate.

Cats are tested for FeL/FIV and negative at adoption in addition to receiving FVRCP vaccines, as age appropriate.

Will I need Additional Veterinarian Services?

Adopted adult animals will be current on vaccines at the time of adoption.

As animals receive only age appropiate vaccines, you may need to complete the vaccine boosters with your puppy or kitten as reccomended by your veterinarian.

Dogs will also need to be prescribed their ongoing flea & heartworm prevention.

Are pets house trained?

We can’t guarantee anyone is house trained. While many of our dogs do great, house trained at the Humane Society when they only rotate between a kennel and outdoors is not the same as loose in a home. We can provide some great house training tips though to help you make the transition sucessful!
